The SYH Story
Superyacht Holdings’ journey began with a vision – to create a private members club based on a superyacht. Founders Thomas and Matthew Locastro, experienced executives in the luxury asset market, recognized an opportunity: traditional superyacht ownership catered almost exclusively to billionaires, while the high-end cruise market attracted those seeking curated luxury experiences. What was missing was an accessible, flexible option that could meet the growing demand for vessel based experiences with the ultimate luxury of a superyacht.
This concept took inspiration from pioneering ventures like The World – Residences at Sea, a model that has demonstrated the incredible demand for a vessel based community with now over two decades of successful operations. To understand and innovate within this space, Thomas and Matthew recruited James St. John, a seasoned hospitality and private club executive who was the first successful President & CEO of The World. Together, they set out to design SYH Club, assembling a team with a wealth of expertise in yacht operations and luxury service. Director of Operations Dale Moffitt, formerly of The World, joined to help shape SYH’s unique guest experience.
SYH’s search for the perfect yacht was global and rigorous. We examined yachts and shipyards across France, Italy, Germany, Croatia, Greece and Turkey, scrutinizing countless details to identify the operational and aesthetic elements that would make a vessel the ideal fit for our private club.
In 2023, SYH announced its private club at the Monaco Yacht Show. During Winter and Spring 2024, Superyacht Holdings brought a 279 foot superyacht to South Florida. Utilizing this €120 million world-class new build, the SYH team welcomed prospective members onboard to introduce SYH Club and begin building its community of people who live life to the fullest.
By working with co-sponsors such as wealth management groups, family office associations, charities and private clubs, SYH Club hosted 18 cultivated events that brought over 500 people onboard. From intimate dinners of 14 to an international family office summit to a superyacht superbowl watch party, SYH Club crafted unique experiences and fostered new relationships demonstrating the value of community in the setting of the superyacht lifestyle.
With each event, our membership base has grown. SYH remains focused on building a community of passionate members who seek to share in this unique superyacht lifestyle.
